In November 2019, I performed a short solo set at one of Andrea Keller's Piano Club nights, which she curates at the Jazzlab. I shared the bill with the formidable talents of Aaron Choulai and Mark Fitzgibbon, and the evening was a wonderful celebration of three very different concepts of jazz piano playing. Fortunately, Andrea captured the performances on her Zoom recorder and I am now happy to share my set as a little Lo-Fi EP.

I often feel like my solo music is pulled in different directions by musical interests that might seem to contradict each other, but I am very happy with the way that different approaches came together in these four pieces. There are nods towards some of my favourite pianists including Teddy Wilson, Ran Blake, Marc Hannaford, Fred Hersch and Hank Jones, as well as influences from Western classical traditions of the recent and very distant past. I performed three jazz standards and an improvisation that departed from Andrea Antico's Renaissance keyboard piece 'Amor quando fioriva mia speme' from the collection 'Frottole intabulate da sonare organi'. I hope the music takes you to some interesting places!
